A northwest suburban Palatine woman was tied up and robbed Wednesday after she walked into a home invasion, police said.
The 46-year-old woman arrived home on the 400 block of West Brookline Court around 9:20 a.m. to find two armed men inside, according to Palatine Police. They bound her at the hands and feet with duct tape, blindfolded her and left her in the basement.
The men stole items from her purse and home before taking off in her car. After about two hours, the woman bit through the tape and called police. She was not seriously injured.
"Unthinkable," said neighbor Ralph Furlong. "In this area, there's very little crime, half the people around here leave their doors unlocked."
Neighbors who saw the woman right after the attack said she was terrified. And no one has seen her since.
"I don't know what happened, but it happened quietly," said neighbor Manush Thakkar.
Police tracked down the vehicle, a 2009 Cadillac Escalade, abandoned on West Monroe Street in Chicago.
The suspects are described as black men in their 20s standing about 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, weighing about 140 and 160 pounds.
