Overnight Burglaries Targeting Stores in Lakeview, Lincoln Park

The incidents happened between July 6 and July 16

Police have issued a warning to store owners about four recent retail burglaries that happened in the overnight hours in the Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods.

In each case, a suspect shattered the front glass door or window in order to get inside, Area North detectives said in an alert. The burglaries happened:

  • At about 1:15 a.m. July 5 in the 3800 bock of North Broadway,
  • At about 3:45 a.m. July 6 in the 3400 block of North Clark,
  • At about 3:45 a.m. Thursday in the 2900 block of North Broadway, and
  • At about 4:15 a.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of North Clark.

In the July 6 burglary, the suspect appeared to be a black man between 5 and 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, police said. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and eyeglasses with thick black frames.

Business owners should make sure their properties have an alarm system and working video surveillance, police said.
