2 Seriously Wounded in Gage Park Shooting

Two people were seriously wounded during a Sunday afternoon shooting in the Gage Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 3:29 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety, citing preliminary information.

Two people were wounded, Baety said. One person was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and another was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said. <!--[endif]-->

Initial reports indicated one person was dead on the scene, however more updated reports indicate both people are still alive. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office also has not been notified of a fatality.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Sunday evening.
