Off-Duty Officer Carjacked on South Side: Police

An off-duty officer was carjacked on the South Side Wednesday morning by two men, police said.

The men, one of which was armed with a gun, took the officer’s car at 7:35 a.m. on the 8000 block S. Fairfield in the Ashburn neighborhood, according to police.

The officer shot at the suspects but he did not strike them, police said.

The officer was not harmed, according to police. The vehicle was not a squad car.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nobody was in custody as of Wednesday evening, police said.
