No Suspect Found After Suburban Plainfield Barricade Situation

The Naperville SWAT team went inside, but didn’t find anyone, police said

No one was found after police responded to a barricade situation Sunday evening in southwest suburban Plainfield.

About 6:45 p.m., someone called the police saying he was armed, had a hostage and had barricaded himself in a residence in the 24100 block of Nottingham Avenue, according to Plainfield police.

Officers set up a perimeter, evacuated several residents in the block and shut down the road for about three hours, police said. During that time, police made multiple attempts to contact anyone in the residence.

When those attempts were unsuccessful, the Naperville SWAT team went inside, but didn’t find anyone, police said.

Police are still investigating the situation. Anyone with information should call Detective Sergeant Kevin McQuaid at (815) 267-7209.
