A man who robbed a bank in north suburban Skokie on Wednesday also tried to rob a bank in northwest suburban Mount Prospect earlier in the morning, according to police.
Mount Prospect police responded at 11 a.m. to a “delayed report” of a robbery the Chase bank branch at 1190 S. Elmhurst Road, Mount Prospect police said in a statement.
A preliminary investigation shows a black male walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money, police said. He walked away without any cash after the teller’s attention was diverted for a moment. No gun was shown, and no injuries were reported, police said.
Then, at 11:48 a.m., Skokie police and the FBI responded to a robbery report at the MB Financial branch at 4801 Golf Rd., FBI spokeswoman Diane Carbonara said.
Their investigation found that a black man had put a note on the teller counter demanding money, police said in a statement. No gun was shown, but “the offender kept one hand in his bag during the robbery.” He then ran out with an amount of cash.
The person who walked into the Mount Prospect bank was seen wearing a dark colored baseball cap with a “C” logo on the front, sunglasses, a black short sleeve t-shirt, gray pants and Nike “Air” gym shoes, police said. No physical description was given.
The suspected robber in Skokie was described wearing similar clothing. He was described as a 5-foot-10 man of a large build and dark complexion, the FBI said. He was seen carrying a blue duffel bag out of the Skokie bank.

He was also carrying a blue messenger type shoulder bag.
Both Skokie and Mount Prospect police suspect the pair of robberies are related.
