A man was shot to death Monday in Skokie.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 8:45 p.m in the 4700 block of Main Street, Skokie police said. Upon arrival, officers found Edward James, 22, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
James was taken to Skokie Hospital where he died about 30 minutes later, the medical examiner’s office said.
Skokie police are investigating but said they believe it was "an isolated incident."
James, who was the oldest of five siblings, had just returned home when someone opened fire, his family said. He was studying to be an engineer and his family was planning a move to Florida to escape the weather and violence, said his mother, Marina Gordon.
