It's the offseason for University of Illinois head coach Lovie Smith, and he's taking advantage of it by trying out a new look.
Smith, who just completed his third season at the helm of the school's football team, attended the Illini's game on Monday night against Michigan State, and he was sporting something he's never sported on the sidelines before:

It's unclear if Smith will keep the beard through football season, but anything to change up the team's luck would likely be welcomed. The Illini went winless in conference play last season, and are 5-19 overall in Smith's two years in Champaign.
