It has been five months since the Hudson family murders -- a series of crimes that shocked the city and the nation.
The mother, brother and nephew of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson were shot to death in October.
On Sunday, both Jennifer and her sister Julia were at Navy Pier for a special event.
Speaking to reporters prior to walking the runway at a fashion show, Julia Hudson said that she wanted to get up and stand tall because, "If I were to not be able to get up, that would mean William (Balfour, her estranged husband now charged with the murders) and the devil won. They took enough from me. They won't take nothing else from me."
She says prayer and support from family and friends have helped her go on after the tragedy.
Julia Hudson said she had no choice but to go on after the bodies of Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson were discovered Oct. 24 in their South Side home. The body of her son, 7-year-old Julian King, was found days later in an SUV.
Thirty-one-year-old Hudson says support from Jennifer Hudson and others has helped her recover.
William Balfour, 27, is charged in the killings. He's pleaded not guilty.
