Services Scheduled for Officer Killed in Dan Ryan Crash

Officer Tito M. Rodriguez had been with the department since May 2013

Services will be held Friday and Saturday for a Chicago police officer killed in a motorcycle crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

A wake for Probationary Police Officer Tito M. Rodriguez was held Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at  Mount Auburn Funeral Home,  at 4101 S Oak Park Ave., in Stickney. An 11 a.m. Saturday funeral is planned at nearby St. Pius X Church.

The 28-year-old was killed Sunday afternoon on the southbound lanes of Interstate 90/94 -- the Dan Ryan Expressway -- when a red 2007 Pontiac Coupe was attempting to make an abrupt lane change to avoid missing the exit at 71st Street.

Rodriguez was unable to avoid the car and collided with it. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A department spokesman said Rodriguez had been with the department since May 2013.

The driver of the Pontiac, 50-year-old Dennis Anderson, was charged with improper lane usage and no valid insurance.
