The brutal January cold has finally arrived in Chicago, but will the bitter blast last?

Monday morning saw some of the coldest air of the season so far to the Chicago area but it appears there is some relief in sight.

Temperatures will remain quite cold Tuesday, with highs in the teens and below-zero wind chills expected. Conditions recover slightly by Thursday, with highs rising into the upper-20s and finally into the upper-30s by Friday.

Snow showers are expected during the late afternoon Wednesday and more wet weather will likely arrive Friday, beginning as rain but mixing with snow by the evening.

Snow showers are likely again on Saturday, with highs expected to sit in the low-30s. Some Lake Effect snow is possible Sunday with highs dropping back into the low-20s.
