As promised, Madhouse Enforcer is proud to present Hawks Headlines, a series of posts designed to track down the latest news surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks. We’ll also have random videos and stories from around the web, so if you’re ever wanting to get your Hawks fix, look no further than right here.

  • Sam Fels has some interesting thoughts on the trade of Jarome Iginla to the Pittsburgh Penguins:

“I know what’s disappointing for Hawks fans, and you’re not wrong if you feel this way, is watching another GM back up his team’s chase for a Cup as strongly as Shero has and still waiting for Bowman to do so. While Bowman has made good trades and appears to be an above-average drafter, at some point you have to show your team that you believe in this team.”

For all the hubbub over whether or not the Hawks should have pursued Iginla harder, this is as concise a breakdown as you’ll see. Bowman needs to express more faith in this team, because standing pat is probably the wrong move at this stage. [The Committed Indian]
  • Nina Falcone had a nice little breakdown of the meeting between Miami Heat forward LeBron James and Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane on Wednesday night before the Heat-Bulls game at the United Center. Her inclusion of Patrick Sharp’s ribbing of the 24-year old winger is particularly funny. [CSN Chicago]
  • Brian Hamilton has a concise breakdown of tonight’s Ducks-Blackhawks matchup at the United Center. [Chicago Tribune]
  • Mark Lazerus had an interesting tidbit in his piece on Sharp and Marian Hossa being ruled out for Friday night’s game. Joel Quenneville is quoted in the piece as saying he can afford to be a bit more cautious with his two star forwards because of the team’s top spot in the Western Conference standings. Not something the average fan would think about, but it’s definitely true. [Chicago Sun-Times]
  • Finally, ESPN released a video of Hossa speaking to the media following his participation in Thursday’s practice, albeit in a non-contact jersey.
