A wintry blast of snowy weather hit the Chicago area on Thursday, dumping up to 7 inches of snow in some locations.
A Winter Weather Advisory previously in effect for the region has ended, but not before the area was blanketed under a record snowfall. Chicago received at least 3.4 inches of snow at O'Hare International Airport, setting a new record for Oct. 31.
Here's a look at the totals as of 7 p.m. Thursday:
Cook County
Elk Grove Village 3.5 inches
Midway Airport 1.9 inches
O’Hare International Airport 3.4 inches
Measurable #snow has fallen on #Halloween in #Chicago only one time. That was 2014, and it was only 0.1". A trace fell 6 other times. So if our forecast holds, this will be the "snowiest" Halloween in Chicago history... #ILwx @nbcchicago pic.twitter.com/Z9qqSSwEK2
