Baby Found Alive in Trash

Suburban Garbage Picker Finds Baby

A person rummaging through garbage in a Franklin Park Tuesday morning found a baby wrapped in a light blue blanket and a sweatshirt, and alive.

The Hispanic girl was found a little after 8:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of Lee Street in the western suburb.  She was strapped into a green and cream colored car seat.

The infant, thought to be about two weeks old, was listed in good condition and turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Police are asking anyone who might recognize the child or know something about the incident  to call 847-671-8270.
