Firefighters battled a 3-alarm fire at a furniture warehouse in suburban Woodridge Thursday night, according to the Lemont Fire Department.
The blaze broke out at The RoomPlace, located at 2501 Internationale Pkwy, around 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
Fire departments and emergency services from Woodridge, Lemont, Pleasantview, Hinsdale, North Palos, East Joliet, Brookfield, Mokena and Channahon are all involved. More than 100 firefighters battled the fire for hours.
“In the early evening on Thursday, April 21, a fire broke out at our main Distribution Center in Woodridge, Ill," a spokesperson for The RoomPlace said in a statement. "While the cause of the fire remains unknown, fire crews arrived onsite immediately to address the situation and diffuse the fire. Everyone has been evacuated safely and there are no injuries or fatalities to report.
"Our immediate focus is on our employees. We’ll continue to work with the Woodridge Police and Fire Department and will provide additional updates as they are available," the statement continued.
Lemont Fire Department Chief George Rimbo said there were about 50 employees inside the warehouse at the time the fire broke out, but everyone was safe and accounted for.
The Illinois American Water Company issued a boil order for Woodridge residents who live south of I-55, according to the Village of Woodridge.
