A former Springfield man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for Medicaid fraud.
A federal judge sentenced 53-year-old Kevin Schaul on Friday. Schaul's prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release with home confinement for the first six months.
He must also pay restitution of nearly $583,000.
Schaul now lives in Augusta, Missouri. He pleaded guilty in August to five counts of health care fraud related to his business. Childrite Medical Supply Inc. sold incontinence products to Medicaid recipients.
Medicaid paid Childrite $2.3 million based on submitted claims. Schaul admitted that from August 2009 through at least September 2013, he repeatedly submitted false claims.
Schaul used the fraudulent Medicaid payments for clothing, food, entertainment, travel, mortgage payments and more.
