Popular Palatine Club Durty Nellie's Closes Indefinitely After Fire

The fire, which broke out just after 10 a.m., happened as six employees were prepping for the venue to open

A fire has forced a popular northwest suburban club Durty Nellie’s to close its doors for an unknown amount of time, the restaurant and bar said Friday.

The fire, which broke out just after 10 a.m., happened as six employees were prepping for the venue to open, according to Palatine Fire Chief Patrick Gratzianna.

The employees made it out of the building uninjured and the flames were contained in the kitchen area and back of the building.

Officials said a gas line at the back of the building was fuelling the fire. Firefighters battled the flames until Nicor could turn off the gas to the building.

Durty Nellie’s wrote on its website that it would be closed Friday and could not say when it would reopen.

“We will keep you updated on when we will be reopening after Palatine fire officials conduct their inspections,” the message read.
