A Chicago designer has a nice little nest egg to help get her career going.
Tonya Pierce won the "So You Wanna be a Designer" Thursday night at the Kenmore Live Studio.
Over a period of eight weeks, six contestants battled against each other in a series of challenges such as repurposing t-shirts into dresses to creating unconventional wedding dresses.
Pierce, a graduate of the International Academy of Design & Technology, was crowned the winner by a rotating cast of judges connected to the design industry.
Her winning design was a black leather and sheer pant suit made for the runway.
The show was hosted weekly at the live River North studio and streamed live on Facebook.
