CTA to Vote on $23M Rehab to Blue Line's Illinois Medical District Station

The Chicago Transit Authority is expected to vote Tuesday on a $23 million rehab project for the Blue Line’s Illinois Medical District station.

If approved, it would be the first major renovation of the station since it opened 56 years ago.

The plan details a rebuild of the main stationhouse, reconstruction of two separate entrances to make them fully accessible to customers with disabilities and improvements to lighting, signage and platforms.

The station is the third-busiest on the West Side Blue Line and serves nearly 75,000 visitors each weekday, officials said.
