Residents Can Use ‘311' Online to Report Flooded Basements or Streets

With torrential rain flooding streets and basements throughout the Chicagoland area, the city is reminding residents that they can report flooding in a wide variety of ways.

On Thursday, the city tweeted that residents with flooded basements, or with water flooding their streets, can contact 311 via their phone or by reporting it online:

The city’s website address is cityofchicago.org/311, and while there residents can request a city service under “water on street” or “water in basement” on the available drop-down menus.

The storm system currently moving through Chicago could potentially dump anywhere from two to four inches of rain on the area, and has already flooded several major highways, including Interstates 57 and 94.
