A Chicago woman is accused of throwing her boyfriend's newborn puppies in a pond, killing them, police said.

Francis M. Blake, 45, of the 3500 block of North Narragansett Avenue was arrested and charged Thursday after police said an observer identified her as the person who tossed four newborn puppies into a pond on July 3.

A search warrant led police to Blake's home where seven emaciated dogs were found and one with noticeable injuries, police said.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Blake said she does not remember the incident. At the police station after she was arrested, Blake told police, "If I did it, I don't remember doing it,'' the report said.

Blake faces four felony counts of cruelty to animals, four felony counts of animal torture, four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and 11 misdemeanor counts of violating animal owner duties.

The dogs were removed from the home and placed with animal control.
