    3 People Dead, at Least 23 Wounded in Sunday Shootings

    Three people are dead and at least 23 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago on Sunday.

    The first fatal shooting of the day occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Peoria, police said. Two people were standing on a sidewalk when a person in a dark colored SUV fired shots at them, striking both victims.

    A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to his neck. A 21-year-old woman, who was shot in the right leg, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition.

    Another fatal shooting occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Maplewood. Two people were walking in an alley when a person in a silver sedan fired shots, striking both victims.

    A 16-year-old boy was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his chest and left shoulder, and later died from his injuries, according to police. A 19-year-old man was taken to Holy Cross, where he was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his foot.

    No one is in custody in the shooting.  

    In the 1000 block of West 60th Street, three people were standing on the sidewalk when a person in a passing vehicle fired shots at them.

    A 32-year-old man was rushed to University of Chicago in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, according to police. Two other victims, a 24-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman, are in stable condition at area hospitals.

    No one is in custody.

    Just before 11 a.m., two people were shot in the 5500 block of South LaSalle, according to police. The victims were riding in a vehicle when an unknown person opened fire, striking both victims.

    A 23-year-old man was shot in the chest, and later died from his injuries at the University of Chicago Hospital. A 24-year-old woman is in serious condition at U of C after being shot in the lower right leg.

    The victims were shot by a person in a black four-door Audi, according to authorities. No one is in custody.

    Here are the rest of Sunday’s shootings:

     

    • A 31-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the 300 block of South Lockwood just after midnight when a person in a white sedan fired shots at him. He was taken to Stroger in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his back, according to police.
    • At approximately 12:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Austin, a 28-year-old man was standing in the back yard of a residence when a person in a white sedan opened fire, striking him in the left arm. The victim was taken to Western Suburban Hospital in stable condition.
    • Two people were shot in the 1100 block of South Jefferson just after 1 a.m., police said. The victims were standing on the street when a dark-colored sedan pulled up and an occupant inside opened fire. A 36-year-old man was taken to Stroger in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left leg, and a 35-year-old woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her right leg.
    • A 21-year-old is in stable condition after he was shot by a person in a red sedan, police said. The man was walking on a sidewalk in the 900 block of North Latrobe at approximately 2:27 a.m. when he was shot in the right leg.
    • Two people were riding in a Yukon GMC in the 3500 block of South Kedzie when a person in a black Jeep opened fire, striking both victims. A 45-year-old woman was taken to the University of Illinois at Chicago hospital with a graze wound to her right arm. A 34-year-old man was taken to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to his right knee. Both victims are listed in stable condition.
    • A 22-year-old man was walking in the 2400 block of North Lake Shore Drive when shots rang out. The victim was taken to Community First Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left foot, according to police.
    • A 43-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Emerald when two men approached on foot and then fired shots at him. The victim was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his left leg, and he is listed in stable condition, according to police. The gunmen fled the scene in a black Audi SUV.
    • In the 2300 block of South Wabash at approximately 3:21 a.m., a 37-year-old man was driving a grey SUV when a person in a grey sedan fired shots at him, striking him in the back. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in stable condition.
    • A 15-year-old boy was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition after he was shot in the 2200 block of South Washtenaw, according to police. The boy was riding his bike at approximately 5 a.m. when he was shot.
    • Two people were shot while standing on a sidewalk in the 1700 block of West Jonquil Terrace at approximately 4:38 p.m., police said. A 23-year-old man was shot in the right leg and left arm, and is at St. Francis Hospital in critical condition. A second victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot in the left arm and was taken to St. Francis in stable condition.
    • A 30-year-old man was standing in the backyard of a residence in the 2900 block of West Fillmore at approximately 5:17 p.m. when he heard gunshots, and after he fled the scene he realized he’d been shot in his arm. He was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition, according to police.
    • Police officers responded to a call of a man shot after he walked into Mercy Hospital. The man says he was on a sidewalk in the 6200 block of South Ashland at approximately 5:35 p.m. when he saw a man with a gun fire shots. He was in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his right foot.
    • Two people were shot in the 800 block of South Karlov at approximately 7:38 p.m., according to police. The victims were standing on a sidewalk when a silver vehicle pulled up and opened fire. A 35-year-old man is in good condition with a gunshot wound to his ankle, and a 28-year-old man, who was shot in the left calf and right foot, is in stable condition at Stroger.
