3 Dead, at Least 13 Wounded in Shootings Across Chicago

Three people are dead and at least 13 more have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago this weekend.

On Saturday evening, two men were shot and killed in the 3300 block of South Lawndale Avenue. The incident occurred at an auto body repair shop, according to police, and officers responding to a call of shots fired found both men dead at the scene.

The victims, a 33-year-old man and a 56-year-old man, were both shot in the head, according to authorities. No one is in custody.  

The city’s first fatal shooting occurred just before 4 p.m. in the 9500 block of South Vincennes on Saturday afternoon. A man was driving northbound when an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside him, and one of the occupants fired shots into the car, striking him in the chest.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and police are still investigating with no suspects in custody.

The city’s most recent shooting occurred in the 2200 block of South Trumbull, when a 27-year-old man was shot during a robbery attempt. After the man was shot, he was robbed by the suspects, who fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left thigh. Police are still investigating the shooting.

Friday:

  • A 15-year-old boy was shot in the left leg on the 5200 block of North Winthrop at approximately 6:10 p.m. The boy was standing on a sidewalk when he was approached by three men, and was shot. He was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
  • In the 3000 block of South St. Louis at approximately 6:30 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the chest by a person in a red colored SUV. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, according to police.
  • A 22-year-old man was walking on a sidewalk in the 2800 block of West 19th Street at approximately 6:45 p.m. when he was shot in the upper right shoulder, police said. He walked to St. Anthony, and was listed in good condition according to police.
  • In the 7300 block of South Winchester at approximately 7:15 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the left elbow while standing on a gangway. He was taken to Christ Hospital in stable condition.
  • A 33-year-old man was shot after a verbal altercation in the 10700 block of South Perry, police said. He was taken to Christ Hospital in stable condition.
  • A 17-year-old boy was driving a car when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and someone inside fired shots, striking him in the arm. He was taken to Western Suburban Hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Saturday:

  • A 32-year-old man was shot in the chest while he was walking in the 6600 block of South Evans at approximately 4:14 a.m., police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
  • A 9-year-old girl was accidentally shot by her 3-year-old cousin, police said. The incident occurred at 11:20 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Fulton. The victim is in good condition at Stroger Hospital, and police are still investigating.
  • Just before 4 p.m. in the 600 block of North Leamington, a 35-year-old man was approached by another man, who fired shots at him and fled the scene. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.
  • At approximately 3:50 p.m. in the 900 block of North Richmond, a 27-year-old man who was sitting in a car was shot by a man who walked up to the vehicle and opened fire, police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai, where he was listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his neck and chest.
  • A 23-year-old man was in the parking lot of a gas station in the 3000 block of South Halsted when he heard shots and felt pain in his leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Sunday:

  • A 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5400 block of West Adams at approximately 4:30 a.m., police said. The man was taken to Loretto Hospital in stable condition.
