The Chicago Cubs are busily inking their draft picks to contracts, and on Sunday they announced deals with two of their highest selections.

The Cubs announced that they signed outfielder Brennen Davis, the 62nd overall pick in the draft, and pitcher Paul Richan, a compensatory second round pick, to contracts.

Davis, a powerful hitter with great speed, racked up 16 extra base hits, including four home runs, and stole 13 bases for Basha High School in Arizona. He also batted .444 in his final high school season.

Richan, who hails from Kris Bryant’s old stomping grounds at the University of San Diego, struck out 101 batters and walked just 13 in his final collegiate season.

The deals bring the Cubs’ total number of signed picks to 10, although they still have not agreed to a contract with Stanford shortstop Nico Hoerner, their first round selection in this month’s draft.

The Cubs have until mid-August to agree to a deal with Hoerner.
