A total of eight Chicago baseball stars are vying for starting spots in the MLB All-Star Game, and two of them are currently leading the way in their quest for the jobs. 

Seven Chicago Cubs players made the cut for the final round of voting, which kicked off on Wednesday morning. Of those players, two are leading at their respective positions according to MLB's first update of voting totals. 

Shortstop Javier Báez and catcher Willson Contreras, both of whom started last year's game in Washington, are leading the way in National League voting, according to the league. 

Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward, Albert Almora Jr., and Kyle Schwarber are also involved in the voting for the eight starting spots, but currently trail in the balloting. 

One Chicago White Sox player is also in the mix, as catcher James McCann is vying for a starting job. He is currently trailing New York Yankees catcher Gary Sánchez, the league says. 

Fans are encouraged to vote through 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Fans can vote for players by using a hashtag with each players last name, such as #VoteBaez. Fans can also vote on Google by searching for a player's name and clicking on the "vote" icon. 

Fans can only vote once per position on Google and on Twitter.
