Chicago Weather

Cloudy, Cool Conditions Move In as Heat Wave Ends

While cloud cover will make Sunday feel a bit gloomy, Chicago area residents will undoubtedly celebrate as the intense heat of the previous few days has finally dissipated.

That heat, which prompted Excessive Heat Warnings and helped to fuel strong thunderstorms that moved through the area on Saturday, will ease in coming days, and the high humidity levels that sparked heat indices upwards of 110 degrees will also begin to fall on Sunday.

High temperatures will settle around 80 degrees on Sunday once one final round of rain moves through the area. A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for the western suburbs, including parts of Kane and LaSalle counties.

On Monday, the Chicago area will be treated to pristine weather, with highs in the high 70s and sunny skies.

The heat won’t begin to make its return until later in the work week, with high temperatures in the mid 80s lurking in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
