NBC 5's Lauren Jiggetts Tells Pet Adoption Story

Hollywood was adopted in 2005 from the Los Angeles Animal Control

Ahead of this year's Clear the Shelters pet adoption event, we asked NBC Chicago employees who adopted shelter pets to tell us their stories. This is the story of Hollywood from Lauren Jiggetts, an NBC 5 reporter and weekend anchor.

I am so thankful to animal shelters for providing me and my family with four loving, amazing furry family members throughout the years. My husband and I adopted a cat from Los Angeles Animal Control. Hollywood was very sick when we brought him home, but with medication and care, he thrived and has grown into a wonderful cat.

He is always there to snuggle and play and has a HUGE personality. He even has my dad wrapped around his paw.

When I lived in Boston by myself, he was the main reason I was excited to get home after work. He would wait in the window and run to greet me at the door.

There are so many homeless animals that deserve a chance at a loving family and I can’t imagine my family without them. I believe very strongly in supporting animal shelters and have been honored to work with Save-A-Pet & Tree House Cats in the past.
