Bond Denied for Teen Charged in Triple Murder

Nicko Grayson is charged in a weekend shooting that left three dead

Bond was denied Monday for a 17-year-old charged in a weekend shooting that claimed the lives of three friends Saturday night.

Nicko Grayson, of the 7000 block of South Perry Street, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting outside A Piece of Cake Bakery in the 400 block of East 87th Street.

Chanda Thompson, 21; Cortez Champion, 21; and another man were killed when a gunman opened fire and fled. Thompson was picking up a cake for her 2-year-old daughter's birthday when she was shot.

Investigators believe the shooting was part of a gang retribution ambush. Police say witnesses helped lead them to Grayson.
