Body of Missing Navy Sailor Found in Washington State

After nearly a week, a missing U.S. Navy sailor’s body was found in the Olympic National Forest in Washington State.

The body of Jeremiah Adams, 24, was found on Saturday by a group of hikers, according to authorities. Officials say Adams had gone hiking early Friday morning when he disappeared.

Police believe that Adams slipped and fell into a ravine, and the officials told his family that the fall likely killed him instantly.

“He was in his most favorite place in the world when he died,” Adams’ father said. “We are doing what we have to do to get by seeking solace in our friends and family.”

The 2012 Oswego East High School graduate loved the outdoors, and his Facebook page included all kinds of snapshots from his adventures in the wilderness.

“He was an avid hiker,” Adams’ father said. “He spent a lot of time there since he was sent to Washington.”

Adams, who was stationed on the USS Nimitz, had planned to leave the military in less than a year, according to his family.

Officials do not suspect any foul play in his death.
