Black Lives Matter Demonstration Spills into Streets Near Loyola

A Black Lives Matter protest was taking place at near Loyola University on Chicago’s North Side, authorities confirmed Monday afternoon.

“In light of the recent police murders of numerous unarmed Black people, we will be holding a protest on Loyola’s campus,” the group’s Facebook page says. “Last year, Black students organized the largest demonstration in university history with over 800 students in attendance. The protest will be taking place in front of the Information Commons on Monday, September 26th, at 3:45pm. All students are invited to participate and WEAR BLACK.”

Police confirmed the demonstration was occurring.

Sky 5 was over the seen of a large gathering of demonstrators sitting down in the middle of the intersection and marching near Granville Avenue and Sheridan Road.
