    There was a bit of shaking in southern Illinois on Tuesday afternoon.

    The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.6 magnitude quake a few miles from Bellmont shortly after 5:30 p.m.

    Quakes of that magnitude are considered minor and there were no reports of damage.

    Tuesday's shaker was in the Illinois Basin - Ozark Dome Region, according to the USGS. It
    covers parts of Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas and stretches from Indianapolis and St. Louis to Memphis

    Residents in southern Illinois and Indiana could have felt some weak to light shaking, according to the agency’s "ShakeMap."

    The largest ever earthquake in the area was a 5.4 magnitude quake, which struck southern Illinois in 1968.
