Parents in Arlington Heights might want to think twice about taking their kids out of school for the day--as it could end up impacting their wallets and purses.
Village code allows police in the suburb to ticket truant students, but a new proposal would fine parents between $500 and $750, if a child consistently misses school without a phoned in excuse.
Police say the ordinance could avoid the search for a missing child, who isn't actually missing.
The village board will address the proposal next month.
