Woman Robbed, Stabbed in Morton Grove

The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Police from Morton Grove and the Village of Golf on Monday afternoon continued their search for a man who robbed and stabbed a woman on Sunday night in an attack a village official said was a domestic dispute.

The woman told police she was driving in the area of Lehigh Avenue and Beckwith Road, in Morton Grove, around 9:30 Sunday night when she pulled over for another driver who flashed his lights at her and told her she had a flat tire, Morton Grove Police Cmdr. Paul Yaras said.

Police previously said the woman had been at a Walgreens store on the 9300 block of Waukegan Road before the attack.

The man robbed the woman, stabbed her in the left side near her armpit, and ran away with an undisclosed amount of her cash, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yaras said the attacker was a man in his 20s, possibly of Middle Eastern or Indian descent. He stood about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and had a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, ripped blue jeans and a black hat. He may have been driving a four-door black Buick.

Ed Ramos, the clerk of the Village of Morton Grove, told NBC Chicago the incident was an isolated one and that police were seeking a known suspect. Ramos described the attack as a domestic incident but didn't know the relationship between the victim and her attacker.

He stressed there was no danger to the community and said the victim's story has changed since her initial report.

NBC Chicago has reached out to police for comments on Ramos' claim.

No one was in custody as of midday Monday.
