Suze Orman Released from Chicago Hospital

Emergency appendectomy makes for an interesting 59th birthday

Finance expert and Chicago native Suze Orman got an unexpected 59th birthday surprise when something went wrong with her appendix.

The finance guru was admitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for an emergency appendectomy on Saturday.

A representative at the hospital confirmed Orman’s surgery and her discharge on Tuesday, but couldn’t release any more details.

“The surgery went well and everything is looking good,” Orman’s spokeswoman Kristin Bouton said.

Bouton added that Orman is still in Chicago recovering in a hotel.

Orman has canceled several scheduled events for this week, including a lecture on women and finance planned for Wednesday at the 92nd Street Y in New York. Orman was, however, recovered enough to tweet while in the hospital Tuesday.

"I am better but still in the hospital so I will not be at the Y. Sorry about that. This entire event is unreal."

Orman is an award-winning television host, best-selling author and host of the Suze Orman show on CNBC.
