‘She Lost So Much Blood': Daughter of Dog Attack Victim Prays at Bedside Every Day

Right now doctors are focused on saving Marion Fowler’s right leg.

Her daughter tells NBC 5 Fowler has weathered many storms and she knows she’ll pull through this.

She came to Chicago from Nashville a few weeks ago for a relative’s funeral. Last Monday, she was walking near 65th Street and Evans Avenue when she was attacked by two dogs.

Gregory Mallette happened to be in the area. He did everything he could to try and get the dogs off of Fowler--even throwing bricks at them and trying to run them over with his car.

But he says they would not let her go.

Fowler’s daughter Alisha, says her mom has a very long recovery ahead of her. Right now the 68-year-old is in the acute trauma unit.

"When I got here, she lost so much blood that everyone was really worried," Alisha said. "They were not sure she was going to make it, and they were not sure they would be able to save her leg."

"I was in shock, I'm still in shock," she said.

Alisha has been at her mother's bedside since the attack.

They hold hands and pray together everyday.

A GoFundMe page has been created by family to help with expenses.
