Relic With Vial of Pope's Blood Heading to Peoria

Peoria diocese one of only three in the U.S. to host the relic

A vial of Pope John Paul II's blood will be on display in Peoria next week.

The vial is encased in a gold Book of the Gospels and will be displayed Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Bishop Daniel R. Jenky will celebrate an accompanying Mass.

The former pope who led the Catholic Church from 1978 until 2005 is set to become a saint this spring.

The Peoria diocese is one of only three in the U.S. that's set to host the relic.
