$1.5M in Heroin Seized on SW Side

Police found the drugs after a bust on South Kedzie Avenue Wednesday

More than $1.5 million in heroin was seized Wednesday afternoon during a Chicago Police Narcotics investigation and subsequent bust.

Police witnessed a drug transaction between Juan Delgado, 35, and Juan Vazquez, 45, on South Kedzie Avenue at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. They were arrested during the bust.

About 2 kilograms of heroin, worth about $200,000, were recovered. Officers also found 13 more kilograms of heroin, worth about $1,315,000, during a search of a house at 3900 block of West 60th Place.

Delgado, of the 5200 block of South Richmond Street, was charged with manufacturing and delivering heroin, and Vazquez of the 4400 block of North Kasson Avenue, was charged with possession.

They were scheduled to appear in court.
