Millennium Park's Official Christmas Tree Arrives Friday Night

Chicago's 103rd official Christmas tree is set to be delivered to Millennium Park Friday night.

A 69-foot, 10,500-pound Norway spruce tree will serve as the city's official holiday tree this year, after it was donated by the Bill Scholla family of Wauconda.

Each year, the city's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events receives submissions from people willing to donate their trees to the city. Scholla's tree was selected out of 120 entries received this year.

The tree's official lighting will take place on Nov. 18 in Millennium Park at 6 p.m.
