19-Year-Old Charged with Shooting of 14-year-old

A 19-year-old man has been charged with the shooting of a 14-year-old boy late Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood.

The shooting took place in the 6700 block of South Carpenter Street about 11 p.m. Thursday.

The victim, a 14-year-old boy, was shot in the shoulder and abdomen, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said. He was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition, Langford said.

Police had no further details on the shooting Saturday morning.

Lashawn Bilbro, 19, has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and aggravated battery, as well as a warrant on a previous probation violation, and was expected to appear for a bond hearing in the Cook County Courthouse at 26th and California later Saturday.
