‘I Want My Dog': Family Pleads For Return of Beloved Pooch After Car Theft

A family is asking for help after their dog was stolen along with their car from the parking lot of a suburban grocery store.

Hillary Kaplan has had Bruiser, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, since he was six weeks old—and he’s missing.

“He’s been our family dog for almost 10 years—my kids love him,” Kaplan told NBC 5.

During a quick trip to her neighborhood Jewel store in Cary Tuesday night someone stole Kaplan’s gray Nissan—with Bruiser inside.

“I left him in the car with the car running because it was cold out,” she said. “I just didn’t think at 5 o’clock, being in Cary, and living here my entire life that anything like this would ever happen.”

A Jewel spokeswoman told NBC 5 that the company was working with police. Cary Police did not share the surveillance video citing an ongoing investigation.

As for her message to the whoever might have her beloved pooch?

“Do whatever you want with the car—I want my dog—that’s it,” Kaplan said.
