Chicago's 911 Center Back Up After Crash

Chicago's system crashed but was repaired overnight

The computer system in Chicago's 911 center crashed for a few hours Monday night, but operations returned to normal in just a few hours.

Delores Robinson with the Office of Emergency Management and Communications said the system went down around 9 p.m. Monday. By 1 a.m., it came back up and was running again.

During that time, dispatchers took emergency calls and relayed them to police using just radios. Robinson said there were no delays because of the down system.

It's not known exactly what caused the crash.
