2 Dead After Highland Park Blaze

Two people were killed in a devastating fire in a north Chicago suburb Wednesday.

The fire broke out just before 1 a.m. in the 2000 block of Kipling in Highland Park. As firefighters arrived at the scene the flames were so intense they couldn’t enter the building.

The flames took several hours to put out before two bodies were discovered in the wreckage.

The Lake County Coroner’s office said an autopsy was being conducted, but the results had not been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

The flames destroyed the home where neighbors say an elderly woman and man lived. The identities of those killed weren’t immediately released.
