2 Adults, 2 Kids Hurt in Police Chase Crash

Police said passengers were seen dumping drugs out of the car during the chase

An late night crash following a police chase badly hurt four people, including two children, Monday on Chicago's South Side.

Police said officers were tipped off around 11 p.m. to a Buick Regal possibly carrying drugs. When officers approached the vehicle, they said the female driver took off. Police followed her until the driver lost control.

The car sped over some railroad tracks near 89th and Ashland in Chicago's Gresham neighborhood, went airborne, then skidded into a light pole, police said.

The driver and a man in the car were both in critical condition Tuesday morning at Christ Medical Center. Two boys in the vehicle were listed in good condition at Comer Children's Hospital and Christ Medical Center. The boys' ages have not yet been released.

Police said passengers were seen dumping drugs out of the car during the chase. They said there were more drugs found inside the Buick, as well as a weapon.

Charges are expected, they said.
