17-Year-Old Girl Shot and Critically Injured: Police

The girl was riding in a tan Nissan when another car opened fire on the city's West Side, according to police.

A teenage girl was critically injured in a shooting on Chicago's West Side early Saturday, police confirmed. 

The shooting occurred at 3:25 a.m. Saturday morning in the 4300 block of W Kinzie in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood. 

Police say a 17-year-old girl was riding in the rear of a tan Nissan when a brown vehicle began following her car, and opened fire. 

She was taken in critical condition to Mt Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. She was the only person inside the car that was struck. 

No one is in custody, and police continue to investigate.
