One person was killed when a semi truck hit another vehicle and overturned on Interstate-294 southwest of Chicago early Monday morning.
Illinois State Police said the crash near 115th Street caused the vehicle hit by the semi to burst into flames, killing driver of the car.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
At least three people, including two passengers in the car and the driver of the semi, were transported from the scene with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
The crash shut down multiple northbound lanes of the roadway, leaving only one lane open to traffic during morning rush hour. The lanes were expected to remain closed as police continued to investigate.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, police said.
