Monday marks the first official day of business for Rivers Casino, a 147,000 sq. ft. $445 million gaming facility in Des Plaines. The casino offers 1,050 slot machines, 48 table games, four restaurants, an entertainment space called Cube, featuring live music and DJs, and the Lotus lounge in the middle of the casino floor. The casino held a VIP event on Sunday for 3,500 guests, and hosted its official ribbon cutting Monday. Judging by the traffic jams on the first day, it's already proving to be a popular destination.
