Studio 54 Revisited

NV Penthouse Lounge hosts a '70s-inspired soiree, complete with disco balls

If the flamboyant allure of the 1970s piques your interest, but your only Studio 54 experience involves the awful Mike Myers movie, you might want to check out River North nightclub NV Penthouse Lounge on Friday, Jan. 23. The sophisticated rooftop lounge will embrace the era of disco, decadence and debauchery, recreating the Studio 54 scene in all its "Me Generation" glory. While it's doubtful Baryshnikov, Brooke Shields and Liza Minnelli will be in attendance, Chicago clubbers will be doing their best approximations of professional scenesters. In fact, guests are encouraged to dress the part in their best glittery, sequined, '70s-inspired get-ups.

In honor of NV Penthouse Lounge managing partner Dan George's birthday, the bash will feature outlandish entertainment and decor, such as an extravagantly dressed woman parading around on stilts, a dance floor decked with oversized disco balls and '70s dance hits interspersed with club hits du jour from DJ Victor R. Let's hope they leave behind Studio 54's notoriously surly door staff.

Guests will receive party favors at this anything-but-ordinary birthday party, which, in true 1970s fashion, will continue on at Spybar until 4AM. NV Penthouse Lounge's Studio 54 soiree takes place from 9PM-2AM. Table reservations can be arranged by calling 312-329-9960.
