#RunChi Twitter Accounts You Should Follow

Patrick McMullan

You’re always running. You know what else is always running? Your Twitter feed. Here at Stride, we love Twitter, and we know the most connected Chicago runners do too. From posting your workouts to sharing race pictures, this top social network is a great hub for like-minded runners to gather information and swap stories.

If you’re looking to beef up your Chicago running Twitter feed, here are a few users we love and we think you will too—they’re the essential Chicago running Twitter handles:

The official Twitter of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Follow along for up-to-the-minute updates on the crown jewel of marathons in our own backyard (and pay attention to the #chimarathon hashtag too)

If it's related to running and it's in the Windy City, chances are the Chicago Area Runners Association has something to do with it. Join, train, learn, and more with this non-profit group, a runner's best friend.

Chicago Endurance Sports offers guidance and training for newbies and pros alike, with groups, plans, and advice all found on their page.

F^3 is the company behind the Pulaski 10K, the Lake Half Marathon, the Turkey Chase 8K, and more. Follow along for updates and to join in on this "gaggle of runners that run & drink en masse"

Products, events, races, and all around cool tips flow from Universal Sole's Twitter feed. Check out their tweets, then check out their stores in Lakeview and Downtown.

With three locations (Lincoln Square, Old Town, South Loop), Fleet Feet is an authoritative voice on all things Chicago running. With nearly 11,000 followers and approaching the 15,000 tweet mark, they've got the numbers to back it up too!

This Libertyville running store's feed has tips, tricks, deals, and laughs. Check it out and you can even shop online too!

Need your Nike fix? Nike Training Club has you covered. The NTC Lincoln Park location just moved to Michigan Avenue, but their Twitter feed has some gems and their group @thecrewruns likes to #getswoll too (sign up here to join the fun).

The almighty Hal Higdon shares his vast wisdom in easily-digestable 140 characters or less. Follow along and check out his new book, 4:09:43 on the 2013 Boston Marathon.

This year-old Logan Square-formed running group has a monster social media presence and an even cooler philosophy on the beautiful sport. Check 'em out three days a week throughout the city (and peep at member @RunningGeek312 and his blog Chicago's Running Geek) while you're at it.

Britt is a personal trainer and fitness blogger that shares her Chicago running story every step of the way at www.chicagorunnergirl.com.

Connecting the vast network of the Chicago running blogger community, @ChiRunBlogs lives at www.chicagorunningbloggers.com and spreads the gospel of stories, info, giveaways and more on Twitter. Managed by the cleverly-named MagMileRunner Maggie (@not_margaret).

And of course—us! We love to tweet and we share all our stories, tips, tricks, and more at @StrideNBC

And don’t forget to follow some hashtags too: #RunChi is the best one for local tips, and #runnerds is great for general running stories knowledge. Are you on Twitter? What’s your favorite running-related handle? Let us know and we’ll share!
