Permanent Recs Toasts 5 Years With Shows

Record-store-stereotype-eradicating Ukranian Village vinyl outpost Permanent Records will spend the weekend celebrating five years in Chicago with a series of shows both in-house and out and about. According to BrooklynVegan, the beloved store/label kicks things off with a free in-store from garage rockers the Vivian Girls at 5 p.m. Thursday. There'll be another in-store this Saturday at 5 p.m. with dream poppers Grimble Grumble and lo-fi punkers Bed Wettin Bad Boys, followed by a show at Hideout with the aforementioned Bad Boys, Aussie popsters Royal Headache, and scuzzy power trio Daylight Robbery. The next night finds Parisian post-punks Cheveu and hardcore-psychsters Running performing at the Empty Bottle, with the following night given over to a free Bottle show featuring grisly rockers Bad Drugs, Mayor Daley (the band, not the dude), and High Castle.

In addition to the musical festivities, Permanent will host an unofficial barbecue in and around their Chicago Avenue shop throughout the weekend. Tickets for the Hideout show are via phone here, while the Bottle tickets are here. Here's to many more, Permanent.
