Lightning May Have Caused Joliet Fire

No one injured, investigation continues

A condominium fire in suburban Joliet that displaced four people Saturday may have started from a lightning strike, authorities said.

The fire, which damaged the attic and upper floors of a four-unit condo, is still under investigation, Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Ron Schroeder said.

The fire was reported just after midnight Friday. Witnesses heard a loud boom and saw the power go out. Joliet firefighters helped all four people out of the building and were uninjured, Schroeder said.
